You don’t need to add tills to POSable by hand. Each Android tablet or Windows PC registers itself the first time someone signs in on the POSable app, up to your plan’s device limit. In the dashboard, App Devices shows every registered device and how many of your plan’s slots you’re using. From there you can rename a device so it’s easy to recognise, or remove one to free up a slot. This guide is for owners and managers who look after the tills.
Why it matters
- Easy to tell tills apart. Names like “Counter” or “Hatch 1” make device reports and card terminal set-up much clearer.
- Stay within your plan. Removing old devices frees a slot for a new one.
- Quick recovery. If a tablet breaks, you can be trading on a replacement in minutes.
Devices at a glance
| Task | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Add a till | On the device | Install the app, validate your Tenant ID, sign in. It registers itself |
| See all tills | Dashboard → App Devices | Shows each device and your plan usage |
| Rename a till | App Devices → edit icon | e.g. COUNTER, HATCH 1, MAPLE STREET COFFEE SHOP |
| Remove a till | App Devices | Frees up a device slot |
| Device limit | Your plan | Up to 5 or up to 10 devices, depending on plan |
How to add a new till
- Install the POSable app: Android from Google Play, or Windows from the Microsoft Store
- Enter your Tenant ID and tap Validate Tenant ID. You’ll find it in your welcome email or at the top of the dashboard’s left-hand menu. You only do this once per device. The app won’t ask again unless you do a clean install.
- Sign in with a staff PIN. The device registers itself automatically, as long as you’re within your plan’s device limit.
- Rename it in App Devices (see below).
How to rename a device
- Log in to the dashboard (https://dashboard.posable.co.uk, or Login on posable.co.uk).
- Open App Devices.
- Click the edit icon next to the device.
- Enter a clear name, for example COUNTER, HATCH 1 or MAPLE STREET COFFEE SHOP, and save.
Device limits
Your plan sets how many tills you can run at the same time:
| Plans | Devices |
|---|---|
| Plan 1 (Core) and Plan 3 (AI) | Up to 5 |
| Plan 2 (Core) and Plan 4 (AI) | Up to 10 |
App Devices shows how many you’re using. Need more than 10? Contact our support team. See How much does POSable cost? for current plans.
Tip: The Shop Floor web app for stock counts and Health & Safety checks runs on phones or tablets without using extra till licences.
How to remove a device
In App Devices, remove the device you no longer use. This frees up a slot straight away. If you’re at your device limit, remove the old device before signing in on a new one.
How to replace a broken tablet or till
- Log in to the dashboard from any computer, tablet or phone.
- Open App Devices and remove the broken device.
- Install POSable on the replacement device. This is a clean install, so you’ll need to enter and validate your Tenant ID again.
- Sign in with a staff PIN. Your categories, products, settings, printer profiles and staff accounts download automatically.
- Rename the new device in App Devices.
- Reconnect your card terminal and printer (see below), then make a test sale.
Your sales history is stored in the cloud, so nothing is lost. The only exception is offline sales that hadn’t uploaded before the device broke. See What if my tablet breaks?
Card terminals and devices
| Provider | What to do per device |
|---|---|
| Dojo | Linked to each till over the internet |
| Gravity Payments (US) | Assign the card reader to the till by name in App Devices |
| myPOS | Connect the GO 2 to the till by USB (Android) or COM port (Windows, set in the till app’s APP Settings) |
| Teya | Linked using your Teya ePOS details |
Troubleshooting
A new till won’t register
- You may be at your plan’s device limit. Remove an old device in App Devices, then sign in again.
I can’t tell which device is which
- Give every device a name. App Devices also shows when each device was last seen, which helps you spot the right one.
Sales from a till aren’t showing in the dashboard
- The till may have been offline. Reconnect it and tap Sync Data, then check Last seen in App Devices.
Still stuck?
- Email everythingis@posable.co.uk or call +44 7356 055601. Support is included in every plan.
