How to install the POSable till app on Android and Windows
To install POSable on a till, download the POSable app from Google Play (Android) or the Microsoft Store (Windows). Open it, enter your Tenant ID and tap Validate Tenant ID, then sign in with a staff member’s 6-digit PIN. If you have not done so – return to the backoffice and create your first app user. The device registers itself in your dashboard automatically, up to your plan’s device limit, and downloads your products, settings and staff. This guide is for owners and managers setting up a new till. If you’d rather we did it for you, we also offer on-site installation and training (see the end of this guide).
Important:
- On Android, Location must be on, and the device’s date and time must be accurate. Incorrect date and time can cause card payment problems. You can easily check location settings by visiting the settings menu on your Android device and search for location. Turn location on and we also recommend location accuracy set to high.
- The device must be online the first time you sign in, so it can download your products, settings and staff.
- Only do a clean install (factory reset) as a last resort (see below).
Why it matters
- Ready in minutes. Install, validate your Tenant ID once and sign in. There’s nothing to add in the dashboard by hand.
- Everything downloads automatically. Categories, products, settings, printer profiles and staff logins sync to the new till.
- Fewer payment problems. Getting location and date and time right first time avoids card payment issues later.
- Same app on Android and Windows. Your data syncs to either, so you can mix devices.

Step-by-step installation
1. Check your device
POSable’s minimum recommended specification is:
- a 10-inch or larger screen, used in landscape
- Android 10 or later, or Windows 10 or later
- at least one USB port
- Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth, both essential
For Windows, we recommend Windows 11 Surface Pro tablets. A built-in camera can also be used as a barcode scanner on some devices. See What hardware do I need? for recommended tablets, printers and scanners.
Note: The till app is designed for tablets and PCs. It isn’t available on iPad or iPhone.
2. Prepare the device
Android:
- Turn on Location. POSable requires it, because payment providers need location information under their terms. We recommend setting Location accuracy to High.
- Check the date and time. They must always be accurate for your location. Incorrect date and time may cause payment issues and wrong report times. Setting them automatically from the network is the easiest way to keep them right.
- Turn on Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth, so the till can sync and connect to printers and scanners.
- Sign in to your Google account in the Play Store. Google Play requires this before you can install apps.
Windows:
- Check the date and time are correct for your location.
- Turn on Wi‑Fi (or connect Ethernet) and Bluetooth.
Using a second-hand device? Factory reset it before you install POSable, so nothing from the previous owner is left on it. On a new device, you don’t need to reset anything.
3. Install the POSable app
Android:
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for POSable and check it’s our app (look for the POSable logo).
- Tap Install.
Windows:
- Open the POSable app in the Microsoft Store
- Install it.
Keep automatic app updates turned on in Google Play or the Microsoft Store, so your till always has the latest version.
4. Validate your Tenant ID
- Open the POSable app.
- Enter your Tenant ID and tap Validate Tenant ID.
Your Tenant ID is in your welcome email, and at the top of the left-hand menu in your dashboard. You only enter it once per device. The app won’t ask again unless you do a clean install.
5. Allow permissions and check app settings
Depending on your device, the first time you open POSable it may ask for permission to use:
- Bluetooth and your receipt printer: allow these so the till can print
- the Camera: allow this if you want to use the device’s camera to scan barcodes
We recommend having Location and Camera turned on for the POSable app. If you didn’t allow them during installation, turn them on in the device’s settings for the POSable app.
6. Sign in with a staff PIN
Sign in with a staff member’s 6-digit PIN. Staff PINs are set up in the dashboard under App Users. For the settings window, Sync and Log out, see POSable till settings, Sync and staff sign-in.
The first time you sign in:
- the device registers itself in App Devices, so there’s nothing to add by hand
- your categories, products, settings, printer profiles and staff accounts download automatically
Device limits: Plan 1 (Core) and Plan 3 (AI) allow up to 5 devices; Plan 2 (Core) and Plan 4 (AI) allow up to 10. If you’re at your limit, remove an old device in App Devices first.
Tip: Rename the new device in App Devices (for example “Front Counter”), so it’s easy to recognise in reports and when setting up card terminals.
7. Connect your hardware
Receipt and kitchen printers
- USB: plug the printer into the till and switch it on.
- Bluetooth: pair the printer in the device’s Bluetooth settings. If it asks for a PIN, it’s usually 0000, but this varies by device, so check its manual.
- Set up the printer’s role (receipt, kitchen or both) in API Settings → Printer profiles, then tap the sync icon next to Log out on the till.
- On the till, press the cog wheel at the top right, then Printer Settings, and select the printer. See How to connect printers, a cash drawer and barcode scanners.
Cash drawer
- Connect the drawer’s RJ11 cable to the receipt printer, not the till. It opens for cash sales, the cash part of a split payment and NO SALE, but not for card sales.
Barcode scanner
- Follow your scanner’s own setup instructions. Usually you plug in the scanner, or its USB receiver for Bluetooth models, and Android treats it as a keyboard. If asked how to use it, choose the keyboard option.
- If a Bluetooth scanner asks for a PIN, it’s usually 0000, but it’s device-specific, so check the scanner’s instructions.
- To scan loyalty barcodes from customers’ phones, use a CCD or 2D scanner, or the camera. On Android, turn on Barcode Scanning in the settings window (cog wheel). On Windows, press the camera button.
- Tip: Turn on the on-screen (virtual) keyboard as well, so staff can still type in the search bar while a scanner is connected.
Need more USB ports? Use a USB hub.
Card terminal
Set up your card provider in API Settings → Payments, then follow your provider’s guide:
- myPOS GO 2: connect it by USB. On Windows, also set its COM port under Payment Settings in the settings window (cog wheel). See How to set up the myPOS GO 2 for card payments
- Dojo GO MAX: see How to set up the Dojo GO MAX
- Teya Pro: see How to set up the Teya Pro
- Gravity Payments (US): see How to set up Gravity Payments
8. Take a test sale
Take a test cash sale, print a receipt and take a small card payment. Then check the sale appears in your dashboard.
Clean install and factory reset: last resort only
A clean install means a full factory reset of the Android or Windows device. Only do one:
- if the device is faulty, or
- if you’ve obtained a used or second-hand device, to make sure it’s secure.
It’s not a general fix for app problems. Try closing and reopening the app, or restarting the device, first.
Warning: Sales taken offline are stored on the device until they upload. Before a clean install, connect to the internet, tap the sync icon next to Log out and check the device’s Last seen in App Devices. After a clean install, you’ll need to validate your Tenant ID again.

Troubleshooting
The app won’t accept my Tenant ID
- Check it against your welcome email, or the top of the left-hand menu in the dashboard, and make sure the device is online.
The till won’t register
- You may be at your plan’s device limit. Remove an old device in App Devices, or upgrade your plan.
Card payments fail on a new Android till
- Check Location is on (accuracy High) and that the date and time are correct. Check your card terminal is registered to the device if using Dojo, Teya or Gravity Payments. Or check you connected the myPOS GO 2 card terminal to the tablet using a USB cable. If it was disconnected before you signed in to POSable log out and sign in again to ensure that POSable registers the terminal. myPOS will require you download certificates before taking your first payment so perform a test payment to ensure that your device is ready.
The printer or scanner isn’t working
- Check it’s paired or plugged in and switched on, that its printer profile is set up, and tap the sync icon next to Log out.
