To take card payments on a Teya Pro with POSable, switch Teya on in API Settings → Payments and enter your Client ID and Secret from the Teya client dashboard. Then, on each till, follow the on-screen steps to link that till to your Teya account and terminal in ePOS mode. Once a till is linked, it sends each card amount to the Teya Pro and shows the payment’s progress on screen. Teya is available in the UK and EU. This guide is for owners and managers setting up Teya card payments.
Important:
- POSable works with one card provider at a time, chosen in API Settings → Payments.
- Teya card payments and card refunds need the till to be online. If the internet drops, keep trading with cash and take cards again when you’re back online.
- POSable adds no markup to your card fees. Your rates are agreed directly with Teya.
Why it matters
- No double entry. The till sends the exact amount to the Teya Pro.
- Staff see every step. Sales and refunds show their progress on the till screen.
- Refunds from the till. Full and partial card refunds go back through the terminal, with no need to log in to Teya.
- Each till is linked once. After setup, staff just press Card.

Step-by-step setup
1. Get your Teya details
If you’re new to Teya, open your account and order your Teya Pro directly with Teya first. Your card rates and terminal terms are agreed with them.
In the Teya client dashboard, find:
| Detail | Required? |
|---|---|
| Client ID | Yes |
| Secret | Yes |
| EPOS Instance ID | Optional |
Warning: Treat your Secret like a password. Don’t share it by email or post it anywhere public.
2. Switch Teya on in POSable
- Sign in to the POSable dashboard.
- Open API Settings → Payments.
- Switch Teya on.
- Enter your Client ID and Secret, plus your EPOS Instance ID if you have one, then save.
Note: You can also choose Teya during Quick Start when you first set up your account. Until Teya is ready, you can trade with cash.
3. Link each till to Teya
Do this on every till that will take Teya payments:
- Make sure the till is online and the Teya Pro is switched on.
- On the till, add an item and press Card. If no terminal is linked to this till yet, the linking steps appear as soon as you press Card for the first time.
- Sign in with your Teya account.
- Get your PIN code: the till shows a Teya web address. Visit it, get the code, and enter it on the till.
- Confirm:
- your location
- the terminal device type
- that ePOS mode is activated
- When linking is complete, the till is ready to take payments on the Teya Pro.
Tip: Name each till in App Devices (for example “Front Counter”) before you start, so it’s clear which till you’re linking.
4. Take a test payment
- On the till, add an item and press Card.
- Pay on the Teya Pro and wait for the till to show the payment is complete.
- Check the sale appears in your dashboard.
Repeat on each linked till, and test again after any terminal update.
Taking card payments with Teya
- Add the items to the sale.
- Press Card. The amount is sent to the Teya Pro.
- The customer pays on the terminal.
- The till shows the payment’s progress until it’s complete.
Split payments: press Split Payment, enter the cash amount first, and the remaining balance is sent to the Teya Pro. See Cash and card payments.
Refunding a Teya card payment
You can refund from any till, and Teya supports both full and partial refunds.
- On the till, press Recent Orders. Today’s sales are listed, with the last 5 shown first. Use the page controls for older sales, or the calendar button to pick another date.
- Or scan the barcode on the customer’s receipt to bring up the sale straight away.
- Select the sale and follow the on-screen refund instructions to refund the whole sale or part of it.
- A manager authorises the refund with their PIN.
- The refund is sent to the Teya Pro, and the till shows its progress until it completes.
Split payments are refunded by the method used, up to the amount paid that way. For example, if a £15 sale was paid £10 cash and £5 card, no more than £5 can go back to the card.
Note: Card refunds need the till to be online. See How to refund a sale on the POSable till for stock, loyalty points and more.
Troubleshooting
The amount doesn’t appear on the Teya Pro
- Check the Teya Pro is switched on, charged and connected.
- Check the till is online. Teya payments can’t be sent while the till is offline.
- Check Teya is switched on in API Settings → Payments, and that the Client ID and Secret match your Teya client dashboard.
- Check this till has been linked (step 3). Each till must be linked separately.
Linking doesn’t finish
- Make sure you’re signing in with the Teya account that owns the terminal, and that you’ve confirmed the location, device type and ePOS mode.
- If it still won’t link, contact Teya to check that your account and terminal are ready for ePOS mode.
